    ******to take an item from an spinner , we can use the following code****

    spinner.setOnItemSelectedListener(new AdapterView.OnItemSelectedListener() {
    public void onItemSelected(AdapterView parent, View view, int pos, long id) {
    // use an object to get the selected item in the spinner..
    // this for further use

    Object item = parent.getItemAtPosition(pos);

    // to display the selected item in toast just cast it ,according spinner adapter type..

    Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), (CharSequence) parent.getItemAtPosition(position),
    Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
    }
    public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView parent) {
    }
    });
